Summer skiing

Don’t pay attention to the summer – you really can ski all year around!

To ski during the summer is a really cool experience that is very different from the winter experience. It is hot and cold at the same time, you are surrounded by green valleys and you feel the sun on your body. You consider wearing a bikini …

Sweden and Norway

Head to the north of Europe and visit Sweden and Riksgransen. You can ski here until early June. Otherwise Norway is a favourite where you can go on all summer long. Read more about Stryn.

A major advantage of heading to Norway instead of the Alps is that the ski lifts in Norway hold normal opening hours. The alpine countries usually close around lunch time due to the sun light.

The Alps

Favourites in the Alps are:
France: Tignes
Switzerland: Zermatt, Saas-Fee and Verbier Austria: Kaprun and Kaunertal

Tips for summer skiing

  • Don’t expect the same kind of skiing as in the winter. The snow is usally heavy and wet and it sometimes feel like you are skiing in butter.
  • Wear water-proof clothes that breath and don’t wear too much. Sun glasses are required.
  • Do a combination of other activities in the ski resort such as down-hill cycling and hiking.
  • Put on more sun-screen than you could ever imagine you need.
