Skiing in Steamboat

Steamboat actually forms a mountain range with six major peaks: Mt Werner, Sunshine Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Christie Peak, Storm Peak and Pioneer Ridge. The slopes are found on the different mountains. Despite the fact that this is a large ski resort, it usually doesn’t get crowded. The pistes are wide and the ski lifts hold very good capacity as they are new.

There are 165 ski pistes and 20 ski liftes. The longest piste is 4.8 kilometers. You will find suitable areas to ski for the entire family and for skiers of all levels, from beginner’s slopes to daring and challenging black ones. Steamboat has an average snow fall of ten meters per year, which is more than other ski resorts close to Denver.

You will stand good chances of finding your own, untouched snow outside of the skiing area. At the top of the lift Pony Express, head for the sign with the skull. Behind the sign you will find a large area with excellent off-piste skiing all the way down to Fish Creek. The views are breath-taking and so is the skiing.

Steamboat caters for skiers of all levels and ages. In case you want solitude and adventure, other ski resorts are, nevertheless, better suited.
