Obergurgl ski resort, also called just Gurgl as ski area together with Hochgurgl, is Austria's highest located ski resort situated at 1,930 meters. The ski area climbs up to 3,080 meters and is therefore very rarely out of natural snow.
Furthermore, 99 % of the ski area is covered with snow cannons, so the ski season starts very early, already in mid-November.

Obergurgl is located in the Ötztal valley in western Austria, in Tyrol.

Obergurgl is large and rarely gets crowded. It is set in beautiful nature with wonderful views of the mountains. On top of Wurmkogl, one of the highest peaks, there is a newly built a panoramic restaurant with a view over the surrounding Alps - an absolute must for ski week in Obergurgl. From here you will also see out over the Italian Dolomites.

Fantastic ski area in Obergurgl

Obergurgl has an ultra-modern lift and piste system spread across three ridges: Hohe Mut 2,670 meters, Festkogel 3,038 meters and Wurmkogel 3,082 meters. Obergurgl is connected to Hochgurgl at 2,150 meters with an eight seated gondola which runs almost four kilometers across the mountains.

Large sums have been invested into renovating the ski lift system over the past ten years and it now is top of the art and has very high capacity. Queues are rare.

The ski area has 24 lifts and about 110 kilometers of ski slopes, of which 35 km are blue pistes, 55 km are red and 20 km are black. Anyone who seeks really exciting and sophisticated rides head to Festkogel. The easiest slopes are found in the Hohe Mut. Wurmkogl have more mixed slopes, for instance many long winding blue slopes that are wonderful for the family with children.

The easiest way to book your ski holiday to Obergurgl is to first book a flight ticket to Innsbruck. Book your accommodation separately to get the best deal. From the airport there is an airport transfer that will take you to Obergurgl. It takes about an hour.

The second best option is to fly to Munich, Zurich or Salzburg, but the transfer time can be close to three and a half hours.
