Mayrhofen is located in the Zillertal in Tyrol, one of Austria's biggest and best ski areas. Zillertal valley usually has excellent snow conditions thanks to the Hintertux glacier and high altitude. The village is located at about 650 meters above sea level, but the skiing is up to 3,250 meters. The glacier also offers summer skiing.

There are mixed skiing for all levels of skiers, from wide carving slopes to Austria's steepest ski slope Harakiri. The angle is 78 degrees – so only try it out if you are an advanced skier. There are about 70 blue / green slopes, 90 red and 25 black runs. The area Ahorn suits families with children best.

For those who like to jump and do tricks you will find one of the biggest and best snow parks in the Alps: the Vans Penken Park.
