Are there any ski lockers to hire in Sierra Nevada?

Yes, there are two places where you can rent ski lockers. One of the places is Pradollano (the village of Sierra Nevada ski resort) close to Al-Andalus Rental, and the second one in Borreguiles near the gondola. Read more about it here.

Are there buses from Granada to Sierra Nevada and what is the price?

Yes, you can easily go by public transport bus from Granada to Sierra Nevada. During wintertime there are usually three daily departures at 8:00, 10:00 and 17:00 during weekdays, and in the weekends, there is one extra bus at 15:00.

When going back from Sierra Nevada to Granada the bus leaves at 9:00, 16:00 and 18:30 during weekdays and in the weekend, there is also a bus leaving at 16:00.

During summertime there is normally only one bus going up to Sierra Nevada in the morning and one going back to Granada in the evening.

How come it is possible to ski in Sierra Nevada, being so far south in Spain?

Skiing is possible in Sierra Nevada, despite its southern location in Spain, primarily because of its high-altitude mountain range. The resort's elevation, village Pradollano is at 2100 meters and highest skiing point at 3282 meters, and mountainous terrain create colder temperatures conducive to snowfall during the winter months. This combination of altitude and geography allows for skiing even in southern Spain.

How long has Sierra Nevada been a ski resort?

Sierra Nevada has a relatively long history as a ski resort in comparison to many other ski destinations. Skiing in Sierra Nevada dates back to the early 20th century when it first gained popularity as a winter sports destination. The resort officially opened for skiing in the winter season of 1964-1965. Since then, it has continued to develop its ski infrastructure and has become one of Spain's premier ski resorts, known for its excellent skiing conditions and stunning mountain scenery.

Is it easy to find parking in Sierra Nevada?

During low season parking is usually not a big issue, you should be able to find parking in the garages, or for free beside the road just outside the village. During high season parking is not that easy though. The garages get filled up pretty quickly and even finding parking by the road. If you go early in the morning, you should be fine but from lunchtime you might have to circle around a while to find parking.

If you are staying at a hotel that has parking, make sure that you tell them in advance that you come with a car and see if they can reserve a spot for you. Most hotels have limited parking spaces.

Is there any free parking in Sierra Nevada?

Yes, you can park by the road A-395 for free. When you are just a few hundred meters from the village, take a left and go uphill instead of going towards the village, and you can park by the road here. After a kilometre you can turn right (on Calle de la Virgen de las Nieves) to go back towards the village, and it is possible to park here for free as well.

A ski pass in Sierra Nevada cost 62.00 EUR for adults for one day of skiing, for children the price is 43.40 EUR.
