Telluride is not very famous abroad, but very well-known among Americans. It is a really hot place nowadays and a very glamorous ski resort. It is interlinked with Mountain Village, which is the new part of Telluride, which was initiated during the 1990’s.
Once upon a time, Telluride was known as a gold mining town. Some thirty years ago, the city was virtually deserted and the houses were almost for free. Then some skiers came along and discovered the potential and the first five slopes were established. A contractor then came along and seized the opportunity to build a new ski resort. He hired a famous Frenchman to design a ski resort and the expansion began. It has turned into one of America's most expensive ski resorts and a lift pass is about $ 100 per day. The skiing is really good but do count on that it will cost you.

A lot of celebrities, such as Tom Cruise, hold chalets here.
