Romme

Romme, Dalarna, Sweden

Romme is about 10 kilometers outside Borlänge in Dalarna, easy to reach from several
places in Sweden. From Stockholm it takes about three hours by car or bus.

Romme is the best place for skiing in the southern parts of Sweden, closest to Stockholm. There are as many as 23 pistes. In the winter of 2007/2008 four new pistes and a new chair-lift were opened. Two of the lifts are for six people and are really fast, so the queues for the ski lifts are usually short, even though Romme Alpin is a very popular skiing area. The longest piste is 2.3 kilometers and there are pistes suiting everybody, from green to black ones.

In Romme there is always snow in wintertime, even if it has not snowed much. The snow
cannons provide a fine and thick cover as soon as the temperature has dropped sufficiently
and the snow will remain for a long time even if the thaw sets in. But in the winter there is
plenty of snow in Romme and the slopes are usually soft and fine most of the day .

There are plenty of good alternatives to stay at around Romme Alpin if you wish to spend the whole weekend there. Driving to Romme on Saturday morning, skiing all day and then checking in at a good hotel in order to spend all Sunday skiing - that 's a quality weekend for the whole family.

It is really easy and practical to rent equipment if you lack something or want to try out something new. Make early reservations so that everything is ready for you when you get there. Maybe try snowboarding or twin tips this year?
